Possible Side Effects and Contraindications

While our therapies are generally well-tolerated, the following outlines potential side effects and situations when certain treatments should be avoided. Always consult with your healthcare provider before beginning any new therapy.
Vitamins & Minerals
Magnesium Chloride
- Possible Side Effects: Flushing, low blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, and muscle weakness.
- Avoid If: You have kidney disease, heart block, or severe dehydration.
Calcium Chloride
- Possible Side Effects: Tingling, a metallic taste, or a sense of warmth. May cause low blood pressure or irregular heartbeat if administered too quickly.
- Avoid If: You have hypercalcemia, kidney stones, or digitalis toxicity.
Methylcobalamin (B12)
- Possible Side Effects: Mild itching, diarrhea, or anxiety. Rarely, it may cause acne or heart palpitations.
- Avoid If: You have Leber’s disease (hereditary optic neuropathy), polycythemia vera, or cobalt allergy.
B-Complex
- Possible Side Effects: Mild flushing, dizziness, or nausea.
- Avoid If: You have an allergy to any B vitamins or a known sensitivity to injections.
Vitamin C
- Possible Side Effects: Stomach upset, headache, or temporary fatigue.
- Avoid If: You have G6PD deficiency or are undergoing chemotherapy.
Glutathione
- Possible Side Effects: Flushing, mild stomach upset, or allergic reactions (rare).
- Avoid If: You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to milk or sulfur-containing compounds.
Vitamin D
- Possible Side Effects: Fatigue, nausea, decreased appetite, gastrointestinal discomfort or elevated calcium levels.
- Avoid If: You have hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, severe atherosclerotic disease (CVD), hyperparathyroidism, lymphoma or kidney stones prone.
Zinc
- Possible Side Effects: Stomach upset, nausea, or a metallic taste.
- Avoid If: You have copper deficiency, an allergy to sulfa or zinc-containing products.
Folic Acid
- Possible Side Effects: Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, irritability, or a metallic taste.
- Avoid If: You have hemochromatosis, iron overload, acute gastritis, colitis.
Biotin
- Possible Side Effects: Skin rashes, digestive upset, or mild nausea.
- Avoid If: You are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting a doctor. It is recommended not to get lab work drawn in the same week as receiving biotin, as it may affect the results.
Selenium
- Possible Side Effects: Nausea, fatigue, or a garlic-like breath odor.
- Avoid If: You have selenosis (selenium toxicity) or severe thyroid disease.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA)
- Possible Side Effects: Hypoglycemia, upset stomach, or skin rash.
- Avoid If: You are on medications for diabetes or have a known allergy. Should be use with caution in those with liver disease, thyroid conditions and thiamine deficiency
NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide)
- Possible Side Effects: Flushing, mild nausea, or muscle pain.
- Avoid If: You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have low blood pressure.
Medications & Boosters
Toradol (Ketorolac)
- Possible Side Effects: Stomach upset, headache, or drowsiness.
- Avoid If: You have a history of stomach ulcers, kidney disease, aspirin sensitivity, existing cardiovascular disease, or are taking anticoagulants.
Benadryl (Diphenhydramine)
- Possible Side Effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or blurred vision.
- Avoid If: You have glaucoma, urinary retention, asthma, severe high blood pressure, or are taking other sedating medications. Note: Benadryl may cause significant drowsiness—be sure to bring a driver if needed.
Zofran (Ondansetron)
- Possible Side Effects: Headache, constipation, or fatigue.
- Avoid If: You have long QT syndrome, congestive heart failure, liver disease, bradycardia, or are taking apomorphine.
Decadron (Dexamethasone)
- Possible Side Effects: Insomnia, mood changes, or increased appetite.
- Avoid If: You have a fungal infection, severe infection, herpes outbreak, uncontrolled diabetes, or are taking live vaccines.
Pepcid (Famotidine)
- Possible Side Effects: Headache, dizziness, or constipation.
- Avoid If: You have severe kidney disease, stomach cancer or an allergy to famotidine.
Amino Acids
- Possible Side Effects: Mild nausea, diarrhea, or an upset stomach.
- Avoid If: You have liver or kidney disease without consulting your doctor.
Lipo-MIC Injection
- Possible Side Effects: Injection site irritation, nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, allergic reactions.
- Avoid If: You have liver disease, bradycardia, acidosis, or are pregnant/breastfeeding.
Taurine
- Possible Side Effects: Headache, drowsiness, or mild nausea.
- Avoid If: You have low blood pressure or are taking sedatives.
